Epidemiological studies, data from DATASUS and hospital registries of elderlies with non-specific CVA (2016-2021) in RS were included. The prevalence of VCA in the old population varied from 1.34% to 1.44% with major occurrence in white women between 70 and 79 years old. The mortality rate was higher in elderlies over 80. The average hospital stayranged from 7.4 to 8.3 days being longer among the older individuals. This study contributed to a deeper knowledge about the elderly victims of VCA profiles in RS provided that, with this information, it is possible to elaborate prevention and control strategies of the risk factors both in a collective and individualized way for the counties because not only the illness has a huge impact on the individuals lives it also results in costs to the health system with hospitalization, treatment, rehabilitation and monitoring.
