Management of clinical nursing care in the post-operative heart

Introduction: In Brazil, cardiovascular diseases have been at the top of the mortality ranking, and the increase in noncommunicable chronic diseases and population aging help in the increase of heart disease. Such complications evolve to surgical procedure and need more intensive care. Objective: to reflect the nursing performance to the postoperative patient of cardiac surgery. Method: reflective study, conducted from a narrative literature review that included articles, legislation, Ministry manuals, from national and international databases. After reading and filing the materials, the descriptive analysis was performed. Results: the present reflection was built by the following theoretical frameworks: nursing care to patients after cardiac surgery; nursing management after cardiac surgery; pharmacodynamic approach to patients after cardiac surgery care. Final considerations: the importance of recognizing the role of nurses in the high performance care provided to patients after cardiac surgery was highlighted, the high complexity care and care ensures better survival and have a deeper reflection on the subject.
