Abstract:

Introduction: Mental disorders can be related to occupation or be aggravated in the work environment. The increase in these diseases in workers has created a public health problem, with health professionals being more demanded in the psychiatric area and with studies being carried out to better understand the links between work and mental health. Objective: This study consists of outlining the epidemiological profile of cases of work-related mental disorders in the state of Rio de Janeiro from 2011-2021. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study with a descriptive and analytical approach, using the Bireme, SciELO and PubMed databases. For the collection of statistical data, the “DATASUS” database from the Brazilian Ministry of Health was used. Development and Conclusion: In the period from 2001 to 2021, 355 cases of work-related mental disorders were reported, with stress-related disorders being the most prevalent. Most patients were female, white, and had completed higher education. Therefore, the findings of this study highlight the importance of investigating the causal relationship between health conditions and working conditions, as well as identifying and reducing the risk factors experienced by workers.
