Objectives: search in the literature publications of the last ten years aiming to discuss the importance of the HPV vaccine for the prevention of cervical cancer. Methods: integrative review, with searches in the databases of LILACS, BVS, Scielo, Bireme. Results: We selected 81 publications, where 08 were read and adapted to the inclusion criteria. The diversity of studies emphasize the importance of the HPV vaccine in the age group from 9 to 13 years. There are factors that interfere in the adhesion to the vaccine, identifying the disparity between the official public communication and the media, resulting in doubts and fears. Conclusion: The nurse should offer quality care in Primary Care, producing satisfactory information and educational actions regarding the HPV vaccine. There is a need to propose effective public policies favoring health education for better adherence and results.
