This paper deals with a literature review on the academic production metrics established by the Ministry of Education (MEC) of Brazil, through the Evaluation Instruments developed by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Anísio Teixeira) for teachers who work in undergraduate courses. These Assessment Instruments are used for authorization, recognition and renewal of recognition for higher education courses. The greatest emphasis is placed on issues involving the types of academic, scientific, artistic, cultural and technological innovation that can be counted for the purposes of the teaching career on a three-year basis. The Faculty Qualification Index (IQCD) established by INEP is presented. It concludes about the relevance of the knowledge of the compulsory educational legislation that teachers who work in undergraduate courses must comply, aiming to obtain a better concept in the course in which they work, but also a better employability and personal marketing, thus providing a better planning of the your career.
