Multirate techniques have become integral to digital signal processing (DSP), especially in the domain of communication. This paper explores the evolving landscape of multirate DSP, emphasizing its crucial role in subband coding and the development of economical information-saving techniques. Multirate systems aim to manipulate discrete-time signal rates by selectively adding or deleting signal samples. The paper provides a comprehensive overview of multirate sampling and delves into digital filter reviews. "Multirate" signifies "multiple sampling rates," and the utilization of multirate DSP systems has demonstrated increased processing efficiency, thereby reducing hardware requirements. In the last decade, these techniques have found new applications in emerging signal processing areas and digital communications.
