The objective of this work was to study the compressive strength of test specimens with sand percentages substituted by wood ash under normal conditions and in periods of exposure to high temperatures. As currently the amount of waste deposited in nature is high, and these residues can be used as additives for concrete, reducing the disposal of these materials in nature, when added to the concrete can reduce the need for sand without affecting the mechanical properties, also reduce the demand for the extraction of sand from the natural deposits, thus reducing the environmental impact. We performed bibliographic research related to the subject to create a procedure to test the samples. Traces with replacement of 0, 2, 5, 8 and 10% of concrete sand by ash, submitted to ambient temperature and 500, 821, 927 and 1029 ° C in times of 30 min, 1hr and 2hr. Subsequently the samples passed the compression test indicating that under ambient temperature conditions any substitution percentage of 2 to 10% of the sand per ash becomes advantageous. For high temperatures the traces that had better and similar performance in the compressive strength were those of 0 and 5% of substitution of sand by ash.
