The study aims to analyse elderly and adult edentulous patient profiles from Caruaru City, as well as the impacts and auto perception on oral health. It is a quantitative and cross-sectional study with an exploratory and analytical approach, developed at Local Basic Health Care Units. A convenience sampling (no random) was adopted, with adults and elderly recruited at clinical dental care. 749 patients were analyzed, seperated into adults (53,8%) and elderly (46,2%). Regarding the auto perception and impacts, 43% of the sample reported difficulty or pain when eating, 33,1% are embarrassed to talk or smile. Moreover, 54,7% considered using or replacing the denture. Public policies stimulus were not enough to mitigate the need for prosthetic rehabilitation in most municipalities. Furthermore, north and northern regions are under developed and show greater prosthetic need. On the other hand, the elderly show passive acceptance in regards of oral health degradation due to the belief of being part of natural aging process, but they understand the edentulism impacts and aggravations in functional, emotional and social aspects.
