The proximity between humans and pets favors the spread of zoonosis, especially when there is limited knowledge about disease prevention and about the transmission cycles of zoonosis, as well as the lack of importance of the necessary care for pets. In this sense, this study aimed to promote health education through reflection on zoonosis and the necessary care for pets, through the University Extension. The methodology was based on the use of learning games that were applied to students of municipal and state public basic education in the municipality of Senhor do Bonfim, Bahia, Brazil. The results indicate the effectiveness of the learning games in the feedback made by the students. It is necessary to continue University Extension activities in the search for homeostasis in human-animal relations.
