Abstract:

The study aimed to investigate the repercussions of the use of oral anticoagulants in the lives of users during ambulatorial follow-up. This is a research with a qualitative approach, following the assumptions of Thematic Oral History, carried out in the oral anticoagulation clinic of the Cardiovascular Emergency Room of Pernambuco. Data collection occurred through interviews with six employees, and the analysis took place through thematic content analysis. The testimonies point out that the repercussions of the illness and the use of oral anticoagulants involve feelings of sadness, doubts about the treatment, limitations resulting from the daily use of the medication and changes in lifestyle. It is observed the importance of the search for strategies that enable the understanding and assimilation of the necessary care for the use of oral anticoagulants, in order to provide a better quality of life, favoring adherence to therapy and reduction of complications.
