This article results from a bibliographical and field research in the life / work of Paulo Freire, educator-politician, and aims to explain the construction of cartographies starting from his political-pedagogical praxis in educational experiences experienced by him in Brazil / world, from exile in 1964 to 1997. This writing sought to understand clues, passages and flows - mechanisms / triggers proper to the practice of cartography as research - in the contemporary updates of his work, referenced in the context of critical pedagogy that made him recognized as one of the most important pedagogues of the century XX, being the third most cited theoretician in the context of human sciences in teaching programs in English-speaking universities, according to the 2018 certificate ranking, denoting the degree of reach of his work and the pertinence of the interculturality contained therein. The research deals with the importance of the process of adult literacy in the context of popular education, which inserted it in the international scientific community, also looking at the expansion of discussions related to educational experiences coordinated by Juazeiro / BA in 1983, permeated by specific gnosiological situations for a popular education marked by interculturality.
