Nursing audit: promotion method for quality of health care in the hospital environment

The nursing audit is a tool that collaborates to reduce costs and expenses, as well as monitor and evaluate the nursing team's performance. The objective of this study was to analyze the scientific production about the contribution of nursing auditing to the quality of health care in the hospital environment. The methodology adopted was the integrative literature review based on scientific articles organized in the databases: BVS, SciELO, LILACS and Bireme. Inclusion criteria were: articles published between 2013 and 2018 in the Portuguese language, containing the following key words and descriptors in Health Sciences (DECS): Health, auditing, nursing, quality of health care, care. The evaluation and interpretation of the data were made by means of content analysis, and the data collected indicated as results that the scientific literature investigated is unison in pointing out that the contribution of the nursing audit to the quality of Health care in the hospital environment is very important and occurs through the reduction of waste in nursing care practice, and in promoting the quality of nursing care provided in the hospital context.It was concluded that in the scientific production analyzed the contribution of the nursing audit is in guaranteeing the quality of patient/client care, avoiding waste and assisting in the control of Health costs.
