Prenatal Factors Related to Premature Birth

Objectives: Identifying prenatal factors related to occurrence of premature birth. Methods: This is a transversal. The population from the present study was composed by the patient medical records of 773 alive newborns, premature which were born from January 2019 to July of 2022. The data was analyzed by the SPSS program. Results: Average age of childbearing women was 28,3 ± 6,5 years. From Puerperal 53,4% were multiparus and 22,8% presented previous abortions. Most current childbirth were performed under SUS (82,5%). Besides, 58,1% of the women had cesarean sections and 18,1% presented twin pregnancies. As for maternal comorbidities 18,2% were diagnosed with gestational diabetes, 12,8% with hyperthyroidism and 40% were overweight or obese. The main risks factors observed for prematurity on the multivariate analysis were: workforce absent pregnant, previous premature labor, HIV and anaemia positive. Conclusion: Prematurity remains being the main cause of child mortality, even with scientific advances. It is known that prematurity etiology is multifactorial and this research highlighted diverse prenatal risks factors, enabling early intervention, avoiding newborn harm and promoting quality of life for mother and child.
