The objective was to identify, through literature, the influence of the home environment in the provision of care by family caregivers for the elderly.Literature review, carried out between December 2019 and March 2020, in the databases: LILACS, MEDLINE / PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science, using the descriptors: family caregivers AND elderly AND domicilie. 2,934 articles were selected, which after filtering reduced to 557 articles. After reading the titles and abstracts, only 04 articles remained. The home environment identified as a facilitator of care is one with an adapted bed and bathroom, in addition to a physical environment with greater comfort, autonomy and privacy for the elderly and caregiver. Ramps, support bars and handrails are also considered essential to guarantee the autonomy and independence of the elderly, thus minimizing the burden on caregivers. It was concluded that the home environment has a direct influence on the care provided by the caregiver and can either facilitate or hinder the care offered to the elderly.
