The Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) has become a relevant device, so it is pertinent to be empowered with the literary knowledge produced in order to enable the best practice. The aim of this study was identify, in national and international publications, the current knowledge about PICC and Bloodstream Infections in the neonatal population. This is an integrative review. Data collection was performed through electronic Search in the following databases: LILACS, MEDLINE-PubMed, SciELO, Science direct (ELSEVIER) and Cochrane. 107 articles were identified, and after reading, 18 articles were selected. The sample was categorized into articles that analyzed the infectious context in a specific neonatal population, articles that analyzed the use of PICC in a specific neonatal unit; articles that analyzed neonatal practices in an infectious context; article that compared the use of PICC and another type of access; articles that analyzed interventions and behaviors with the aim of preventing infections. In conclusion, the theme is relevant for the establishment of evidence-based nursing, but the lack of large randomized studies disabled the production of strong scientific evidence, as well as the lack of unification of concepts in the production of international consensus on established criteria for bloodstream infection, late neonatal sepsis.
